VS Code logs your hours in Half5. You just keep working.
VS Code works with Half5 through MCP: VS Code with GitHub Copilot in agent mode. Connect once, and your assistant logs time on the right customer and project.

Add Half5 in VS Code
Add the server with the command MCP: Add Server, or put it in .vscode/mcp.json. Start the server from the file and sign in when VS Code asks.
- 2
Sign in
You open Half5 in the browser, sign in with your Half5 account and give consent. An unknown client is shown with a warning.
- 3
Ask VS Code to log time
For example: ‘Log 2 hours for the login fix.’ Half5 finds the customer and project itself. The entry appears in Half5 as a regular registration.
https://app.half5.com/mcp {
"servers": {
"half5": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://app.half5.com/mcp"
}
}
} Log time where you already work with VS Code.
-
Log work without IDs
A description and the time are enough. Half5 picks the customer and project.
-
Customer recognised from the repository
Half5 looks at the repository name, your earlier entries and your customers. After a confirmed entry, Half5 remembers which repository belongs to which customer.
-
Search, review and edit
The agent searches customers and projects, lists your entries and edits or deletes them. Only your own entries; it cannot read your timeline.
-
Any MCP client
Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code and connectors in Claude.ai or ChatGPT. An unknown client is shown with a warning before you give consent.
-
Regular registrations
Agent entries appear in your overview and flow into approval and invoicing, like your other hours.
-
Revoke access
In Half5 you see which agents are connected and revoke access whenever you want.
Half5 works with any MCP client.
