What does your manager see?
Only what you log. An admin sees everything for the whole organization, a department manager sees their department and its projects. Everyone else only sees their own entries.
Can see
- Your hours: date, duration, description, client, project, and activity
- Your leave and sick days
- The trips you log, with route and distance
- Reports on those entries, also by person
Never
- Your timeline: programs, windows, websites, files, and commits
- Your AI sessions in Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor
- Your meetings from Google or Outlook
- Your location and visits, unless you turn them into a drive or an hour yourself
- Suggestions you haven't saved
- Screenshots or keystrokes: Half5 doesn't capture these
This isn't a setting an admin can change. Your timeline is encrypted with a key that's only on your devices, so Half5 has nothing to share.
How the boundary works.
- No one else can access your timeline
Your timeline is encrypted on your device and only synced between your own devices. The key isn't on the server. So a manager, admin, or Half5 can't open it—not even with extra permissions.
- Nothing counts as an hour without you
A suggestion only becomes a record when you save it. Only then can your manager see, approve, or reject it.
- Integrations don’t get a timeline
Accounting software receives clients, projects, and invoices. An AI agent via MCP only reads and logs hours for the user who connected it. No integration can access your timeline.
- Marketing only with consent
The website works without marketing cookies. Google or Meta tracking only loads after you give consent.

- Encrypted on your device End-to-end, like WhatsApp. The server only stores your timeline encrypted, without the key. Half5 and the providers who process data for us can't read it.
- Stored in the EEA Server and database are at DigitalOcean in Amsterdam; files and email are at AWS in Frankfurt. Any processing by other services is listed per service on the subprocessor list.
- You decide what goes in Programs and websites on your exceptions list won't show up in your timeline. You also choose how long your timeline is kept.
Everything in one place.
